Historic

Anping is the birthplace of Taiwan's modern history. It is home to Fort Zeelandia, built in the 17th century, making it crucial for visitors to understand the colonial past and the cultural roots of Taiwan.

Classic 

Walking through Anping Old Street and its narrow red-brick alleys feels like stepping back in time. The traditional architecture, old old-style residences, and historic "Sword Lions"  on the walls create a nostalgic, unique atmosphere.

Delicious 

Food is an inseparable part of Anping's identity. From traditional Oyster omelet and Shrimp cakes to Douhua and fresh beef soup, the local culinary scene is a major attraction that draws food lovers from everywhere.

Scenic

Located by the coast, Anping offers stunning natural and waterfront views. The breathtaking sunset at the harbor, the vast green spaces of Linmo Niang Park, and the unique mangrove ecosystem along the canal provide a relaxing escape.

Vibrant

While it is a historic town, Anping is full of life. The bustling old street, cultural festivals, and creative transformations of old spaces (like the Anping Tree House) keep the venue energetic and engaging for all generations.

3. What features does this attraction have that a visitor should know about?

a. Its history

Established in the early 17th century by the Dutch East India Company as "Fort Zeelandia," Anping is the oldest international port town in Taiwan. It served as a critical political and trading hub during the Dutch, Zheng Han, and Qing dynasties, witnessing centuries of maritime history and cultural exchange.

b. Sights 

Anping Old Fort: The iconic historic fortress with its remaining red-brick walls from the Dutch era.

Anping Tree House: A former salt warehouse where massive banyan tree roots and branches have completely overgrown the structure, creating a surreal, mystical landscape.

Eternal Golden Castle: A 19th-century defensive castle equipped with historic cannons and surrounded by a scenic moat.

c. Public Facilities

Anping features well-paved walking trails, wooden viewing platforms around treehouses and canals, and public bicycle sharing stations for easy exploration. Clear bilingual tourist signs and regularly running tourist buses are also readily available.


d. Activities

Visitors can hunt for traditional "Sword Lions" hidden in the old alleys, shop for local souvenirs and snacks on Anping Old Street, take a scenic boat cruise along the Anping Canal, and enjoy flying kites or watching the sunset by the harbor at Lin Mo Niang Park.

a. Logos

Visiting Anping is a smart choice for travelers. It is very easy to reach by bus from Tainan City. Also, the main attractions—like Anping Old Fort, the Tree House, and the Old Street—are all very close to each other. You can easily walk everywhere. With cheap and delicious local food, you get a great travel experience without spending too much money.


b. Ethos

Anping is a place you can trust for a great trip. As the oldest town in Taiwan, it is protected by the government as an important cultural center. It is highly recommended by travel guides, history books, and even famous food experts. When you visit Anping, you are visiting a proven, must-see destination that both locals and tourists love.


c. Pathos

Imagine walking down a quiet, red-brick alley with a cool sea breeze touching your face. In Anping, you don't just see history; you feel the warm heart of southern Taiwan. The friendly smiles of the local shop owners and the beautiful golden sunset over the harbor will make you feel fully relaxed. It is a place that will leave a warm memory in your heart forever.
